This allows the sketchbook to lay flat - no matter which page you are working on. I punch square holes for a classier look in each sketchbook and then bind the front cover, Kraft paper pages, and back cover together with 1” black 2:1 twin-loop binding wire. For each cover, I select a section of Cavallini wrap containing a beautiful, whimsical vintage print.

I custom wrap the cover with a premium Italian acid free paper from Cavallini Papers & Co. The front cover is cut from double-thick chip board.
For the smaller sketchbooks I use double-thick chip board which is good enough for their size and weight. This makes for a firm, strong, steady backing for drawing and painting out in the field or in the studio.
